Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our upcoming unit involves the study of life cycles, where the students can actively participate using this e-textbook. The class will focus on four familiar life cycles, including butterflies, frogs, plants, and water. The purpose of studying life cycles is for the children to learn about their surrounding environment and the growth and development of living organisms. Some main focuses of the Life Cycle Unit include the following:
The Life Cycle Unit plan is interdisciplinary, incorporating skills and materials across several content areas. There are components of science, mathematics, and English Language Arts found within the unit. In addition, the children will become more accustomed to using technology. Throughout the unit, the class will be exposed to Smart board activities, glogsters, voki, wordle, and many other interactive websites. We will utilize this e-textbook and various other interactive computer activities and games to help engage the students.
The main goal during the unit is for students to take these four focal life cycles and look at the bigger picture: How do life cycles effect the environment? We encourage the children to take the content taught in class and apply it to real-world experiences. We would love to hear about at-home stories, experiments, applications, and outdoor adventures (pictures and videos are welcome)! This exploration and discovery will enhance our unit plan.
If you have any questions, concerns, and/or comments, please feel free to contact us!
Sincerely,
Ms. Sheridan & Ms.Pisciotta
