Definitions
Evaporation: type of vaporization that occurs on the surface of a liquid into its gas state
Transpiration: the process of water movement through a plant and its evaporation from leaves, stems, and flowers
Condensation: when a gas turns into a liquid
Precipitation: rail, hail, sleet, or snow that falls to the ground
Accumulation: a mass or quantity of something that has gradually gathered or been acquired
Run-off: water that falls from the top of the mountains into the mainstream of a lake, ocean, or river
Infiltration: the process by which water on the ground surface enters the soil
Groundwater: the water located beneath the earth's surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of rock formations.
Lake: a large body of water surrounded by land
River: a large natural stream of water flowing in a channel to the sea, a lake, or another such stream
Ocean: a very large expanse of sea, in particular, each of the main areas into which the sea is divided geographically
